Erica Cieri, LCSW
I am a therapist and trainer with Made to Thrive in Williamsville, NY. I help those who are overwhelmed with worry, struggling with relationships or dealing with a life transition or change (experiencing a loss, starting college, etc.). In many cases, this includes work with individuals, couples or families. I have extensive experience working with adolescents and college-age adults, but happily work with clients of all ages. As a Christian I also enjoy talking through how your current symptoms are related to your faith, as appropriate to each client.
I am here to be a listening ear and talk through the issues bothering you. However, there also comes a time in the session where we will roll up our sleeves and collaborate to take concrete action towards positive change. This may involve learning about new skill in session. It may mean implementing new skills in between sessions. The goal is to create real change and find your peace.
In addition, our mental health has a strong relationship with our physical health. For this reason, I take a holistic approach to therapy. I focus on building skills to combat the symptoms of mental health while also addressing the factors of physical and spiritual health.
Education and Experience
I received my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from SUNY Geneseo. At the University at Buffalo, I received my Master’s in Social Work. I obtained my Licensed Master Social Work (LMSW). And now I currently hold my Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) license in New York State.
I have had extensive clinical experience in providing mental health counseling with children and families. My focus is on reducing symptoms and improving communication within the family. I currently work in a college counseling center providing supportive therapy to college students. In addition, I have also provided couples therapy and have worked to help repair many relationships.
Passion for Therapy
In both my personal and professional life I have met a lot of children, adults and families at a time when they feel vulnerable, overwhelmed and out of control. It is in these moments when things seem bleak and hope is fading. My passion for providing therapy comes from collaborating with these clients and offering compassion and support. I work hard to provide my clients with the tools they need to restore that feeling of control and to help them find a sense of peace.
Most of all, when a client works through a struggle in their life, they report a renewed strength and a firm sense of hope that I can be witness to. It is a honor to be a part of the process of creating positive change in my client’s lives. I know from my years of clinical experience that therapy WORKS, and it can work for you, too.
